Introduction

THE UDOMORE stochastic workflow for reservoir structure optimizes the contribution of PSDM/PSTM velocities for depth conversion. As a result, it produces structural models and associated geometry and volumetrics estimations with maximum accuracy, confidence and speed.

Problem

Typically, PSDM/PSTM seismic velocities are optimized for depth/time imaging but not for depth conversion. When they are used “as is” for depth conversion, the end result may be an unrealistic structural model, particulalry in sub-salt and/or faulted environments. Utlimately this may lead to flawed prospect evaluations and drilling decisions.

Approach

To ensure accurate structural models, PSDM/PSTM velocities must be analyzed for their spatial consistency before they are considered for depth conversion. Using our Spatial Data Conditioning (SDC) process, you are able to assess the spatial consistency of interval PSDM/PSTM velocities, and extract their contributive content with quantified confidence as an optimal input to depth conversion.
